Matthew Stanton from Sunseeker Monaco and Andy Jeans from Sunseeker Poole have just returned from a day of sea-trials onboard a CAT engined Sunseeker Predator 80, the first of its kind to leave the Sunseeker factory. Destined for Mallorca, “Flamanca” has just finished her last test phase.
A Sunseeker Predator 80 and her larger sibling, the 28 Metre Yacht, both sold by Matthew Stanton, moored at the Sunseeker International factory
Matt explains:”This new range of CAT C32 1925hp ACERT engines are just phenomenal. Each and every Sunseeker that leaves the factory is put through its paces off the Dorset coast and today was no exception. We achieved over 33 knots flat out and the boat felt fantastic, the high speed S-turns were incredible, with the engines maintaining full power even on the rudder stops”.
S-turns proved easy for the Predator 80 and CAT combination
Without a shadow of a doubt, it was the acceleration that put the biggest smiles on the test crew’s faces. Benefiting from a single stage turbo, the torque curve on the CAT engines mean that this Predator 80 is propelled out of the water onto the plane in a matter of seconds.

With of all his testing experience however, Andy Jeans knew exactly where to hold on when the test team performed a “Crash Stop” (this basically involves running at full chat, then putting the throttle leavers full astern in one move.) If we looked close enough we could make out Matt’s face print on the front windscreen, at least we know the glass is tough enough..
We will be back with a full report on Sunseeker Predator 80 “Flamanca” when she reaches her final destination in early July.
