Britain’s largest boat show opened with a flourish last Friday, as thousands of visitors made their way to the PSP Southampton Boat Show. The Sunseeker stand, as ever, remains one of the main attractions of the 9-day event, with a total of 14 motor yachts on display across land and water.
Amongst the selection of yachts available to clients view at the show, spanning from the 40 Portofino to the 40 Metre Yacht, are 3 brand new releases from Sunseeker International. Launched on Friday by Top Gear presenter and boating enthusiast Richard Hammond, together with Sunseeker founder Robert Braithwaite, the new Manhattan 55, 68 Sport Yacht and 80 Sport Yacht were revealed to the UK yachting world on Friday’s Press Day.
The Manhattan 55 is a beautifully crafted flybridge motor yacht which boasts expansive space and exquisite design details. Moving on from its predecessor, the Manhattan 53, the hull features the now famed Sunseeker panoramic hull windows (as the Portofino 40, Predator 68 and Predator 80) in addition to a huge family friendly flybridge with seating area, large sun pads, full size wet bar and redesigned flybridge console.
Southampton is all about the Sport Yachts this year, as both the 68 and 80 make their World debuts. A world first model, which combines a full size flybridge with the streamlined 68 Predator styling, the 68 Sport Yacht is also one of the only yachts of her size and type to house a stern garage which can comfortably accommodate a Williams 325 tender.
Her elder sister, the 80 Sports Yacht, is a performance machine. Building on the success of the Predator 80, she offers clients additional space with a flybridge yet also the performance that Sunseeker enthusiasts know and love. A cutting edge interior is combined with clever use of external space which includes the possibility of a foredeck jacuzzi and a hydraulic bimini on the fly.
Welcoming the new additions to the Sunseeker family on Friday were the Sunseeker Brit Girls, who returned to the Southampton stage. With performances from contemporary opera group Amore and soloist Iolla Grace, the stand came alive with plenty of music and dancing in celebration of the latest models. What is more, a special “Best of British” Top Gear episode was replayed on the giant screen, drawing in even more crowds to the Sunseeker display (rumour has it that the Singapore Grand Prix might even be broadcast on Sunday!)
