With an owner very keen to sell and a recent price drop to a very attractive £899,000 VAT paid, we spent some time discussing the 2013 Sunseeker Manhattan 53 FAB 2 with her listing broker, Sunseeker Poole’s Spencer Brown, to understand why this boat presents a unique deal to a new owner…

SSB: So Spencer, thank you for taking the time to show us over FAB 2 this morning, I have to say she looks brand-new, please can you tell me why this boat is for sale?
Spencer: This Manhattan 53 was the boat on show at the 2013 London Boat Show earlier this year, where she was purchased. After going back to the shipyard to have extras added to become MCA CAT 2 coded for charter, we delivered her to the owner in late Spring. The owner used her for just one weekend, after which he also purchased a larger Sunseeker in the South of France. Of course the long cold winter this year did leisure boating in the UK few favours, and this customer in particular has a very busy diary during the summer months, so he made the decision to sell her. In order to maintain the boat in brand-new condition and give her the best marketing opportunities, he also decided to move the boat back to our facilities here in Poole, where she has been taken out of the water and meticulously-maintained in as-new condition by our fantastic team.
SSB: As we are sitting here I am surprised by the amount of light beaming through this Starboard side saloon window, can you just run us through the interior features that a new owner would benefit from?
Spencer: Fitted with beautiful Satin American Walnut, white gloss cabinetry and neutral soft furnishings throughout, the saloon has a lovely light feeling to it, which filters down to the galley at the bottom of the stairs to the accommodation level. FAB 2 has the standard Manhattan 53 cabin layout with a full-beam aft Master Cabin complete with very large windows, plenty of storage, LCD TV, and luxurious en-suite bathroom.

This model definitely benefits from Sunseeker’s expert design team, and has inherited features normally only seen in much larger boats. The high quality finish is continued into the other two cabins; one forward double VIP cabin and one spacious twin cabin. The galley is also of particular note with a beautiful black granite worktop, which continues the feeling of warmth from the Satin American Walnut. This open galley layout suits itself well to an owner-operator boat. Having said that there is a crew cabin fitted in the transom, accessed from the aft hydraulic platform, should the Buyer prefer to have a Captain onboard for private or charter use. This could also be used as a useful storage lazarette and includes another bathroom. The boat actually sleeps 7 in comfort.

SSB: As it is such a beautiful day, shall we head outside and talk exterior spaces?
Spencer: Absolutely. In my opinion this is where this model excels, with three fantastic comfortable areas to socialise. The first one of note is the sunbathing area on the bow – there is always something special and relaxing about lying on the bow at anchor. Walking back long the side deck, you can see we have LED low level lights, to create that extra wow-factor when the light fades, and this leads us into the aft deck area. A lovely feature on board FAB 2 is the U-Shaped seat which wraps around the extendable teak table, with a built-in sunbathing area behind. What a splendid place to spend lunches at anchor!

Last but no means least, if we climb the steps we will come to that very special Flybridge. With a sunbathing area next to the helm, comfortably seating for 8-10 guests, low level deck lighting, a wetbar and a second helm station – it is furnished with flair! Whether boating in the UK or in the Med, this is where the majority of the entertaining happens, and if the sunlight gets too strong, this boat is fitted with the optional extra of a bimini cover to get some shade.
SSB: Another unique feature for any potential owners is the fact that the boat is MCA coded for charter, can you just give us some more information on this?
Spencer: The owner of this boat had intended to put the boat into charter, just to create an additional income stream to contribute toward the boat’s annual running costs. In fact, everything was in place with Sunseeker Charters when the decision was made to sell, so it would be a very easy transition for them to start marketing the boat again should the new owner wish to do so. With a Med charter price tag netting back to the owner €16,000 per week, or a UK daily rate netting back approximately £2,500, there is definitely the opportunity to offset a large proportion of the annual running costs. An added bonus!

SSB: And finally – the price…..where does this boat stand in today’s market?
This particular Manhattan 53’s specification and retail price is well over a million pounds, which plus the VAT takes the invoice price to at least £1.2m. The boat is VAT paid, coded, and supplied complete with a tender on the platform. It is the finished article for a price that is over £300,000 cheaper than new – and it still has over a year’s worth of warranty remaining as well. This owner has certainly priced his boat to attract a sale – and serious offers will be considered. This boat would certainly represent a good pre-Christmas bargain, and I cannot see this opportunity lasting long.

SSB: Fantastic. Well Spencer, thank you once again for your time this morning. Talking to you has absolutely highlighted what a special purchase this Sunseeker Manhattan 53 would be for a new owner.
