Enjoying one of the hottest days of the year so far, Sunseeker Poole hosted the launch photo-shoot for the Asahi British Beach Polo Championships. In its 7th year, this event is a highlight of the South Coast’s summer season events, held this year on the 11th and 12th of July on the prestigious beach of the Sandbanks peninsula.
The launch photo-shoot saw all event sponsors, partners and a selection of players and ponies come together, including title sponsors Asahi along with Poole Audi, Hildon Water and Piper-Heidsieck Champagne to name a few. With the Sunseeker 40 Metre Yacht moored in pride of place, the polo players and ponies took to Poole Quay to have their photograph taken in front of Sunseeker’s second largest yacht.
Supported by some of the best arena polo players in the world, the hotly anticipated beach festival promises excitement and glamour both on and off the pitch. England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will be competing with England keen to retain the title after a gripping final against Wales last year.
Arena polo is a spectacular spectator sport and played on a stunning Blue Flag beach brings the very best out of the players, ponies and guests. Jack Kidd, supported by his sister Jodie, will be playing again this year. He comments; “I have been lucky enough to play polo all round the world – Sandbanks is still one of my favourite weekends of the year. The polo is insanely competitive, the audience is great and the beach parties – well they are simply the best!” Chris Hyde, representing Scotland, is also returning to Sandbanks this year as the best arena polo player in Europe.
To celebrate their 5th year at the event the Oakley International Beach Volleyball will see Team GB play the Australian Olympians in a 2 match series. Excitement is also mounting about the Sunseeker Poole ‘Seek the Sun’ fashion show to be held on both days of the event. The fashion show will showcase a number of outfits from well-known high-end brands you would expect to see on board a Sunseeker yacht.
Sunseeker Poole will once again be hosting a select number of clients in the waterfront Sandpolo Hospitality marquee, enjoying the exclusive VIP experience.
A Sunseeker London Group favourite, Variety , the Children’s Charity, is the chosen charity for the event with one of the main fundraising events being an Audi Q7 v polo pony race on the beach – of which last year clients of Sunseeker Poole bid for and experienced from the comfort of the Q7. Let’s see if Sunseeker Poole guests this year can carry on the tradition…!
