Sunseeker Andalucia proudly sponsored a weeklong Torneos Sotogrande Racquet event at the Sotogrande Racquet Centre. The venue is a genuine paradise for racquet sport lovers, with the facility of eight paddle (or padel) courts.
The week brought together paddle tennis players from around the region and proved it to be a great success with 150 guests attending over the four day event, which hosted six different categories with varying ages playing towards the exciting final on 6th August.
Paddle, or padel, tennis is an adapted version of regular tennis with a solid board as opposed to that of a strung racquet. Rapidly gaining a reputation amongst racquet sports, the game has spread to many countries in Europe and as afar as Dubai and Egypt. The fast and reaction-based sport is typically played in doubles on an enclosed court about half the size of a tennis court. Scoring is the same as the normal game of tennis, however the balls have less pressure making the game similar to squash.
The sport is increasingly popular along the Costa del Sol in southern Spain, where Sunseeker Andalucia are based in Sotogrande and Puerto Banus. The Sunseeker Andalucia team were delighted with how the tournament went and hope to continue sponsoring the event in the future.
