Sunseeker Celebrate: 100 Sunseeker yachts over 100ft

The beginning of the Cannes Yachting Festival marked a milestone for the global Sunseeker network, with the celebration of the 100th Sunseeker yacht delivered over 100 feet.

On the exclusive VIP terrace of the Palais des Festivals, overlooking the Cannes Yachting Festival, guests were welcomed with a special edition 100 x 100 commemorative Champagne flute filled will the finest Champagne

Sunseeker International invited all original owners of the 100 yachts, along with their Sunseeker sales representative, senior members of the Sunseeker design and management team and a selection of international industry press to attend this momentous occasion.

Whilst owners had the opportunity to meet the designers who created the concept of their unique vessels, the attending dealers were excited to learn the developments from senior management of the brand-new 100ft+ models being launched in 2016.

The celebrations will continue throughout the boat show season, with special features at the upcoming Southampton and Monaco Yacht Show

Sunseeker International CEO Phil Popham, took to the stage to welcome all attending VIP guests, celebrating both the past 100 yachts and taking the opportunity to look forward to the next 100. In his speech he presented the audience with a number of interesting facts about the 100 delivered 100ft+ Sunseeker yachts:

– The first one ever built was a Sunseeker 105 Yacht delivered in 2000
– Total overall length of 3.40 kilometres (enough to stretch over 38 premiership football pitches)
– Total combined gross tonnes of 14,150 (roughly the weight of 1,000 London double decker buses)
– Total combined interior volume 1,274,924 cubic feet (enough to fill 15 Olympic size swimming pools)
– Over £1 billion spent with Sunseeker by the 100 owners

Recognised as the world’s number one yachting brand in volume over 80ft, Sunseeker has produced some of the world’s finest yacht, of which all have passed the desk of Director of Design and original co-founder John Braithwaite. Joining Phil Popham on stage, John went on to explain how important it was in the late 90’s to stay ahead of the market, they listened to customers’ needs and as such the first 100ft+ Sunseeker was built, the very successful Sunseeker 105 Yacht. With a number of Sunseeker models now built in the 100 – 155 foot range, John choose the Predator 108 (built between 2004 – 2010) as his favourite, describing the model as a true timeless Sunseeker classic.
