Sunseeker’s very own 40M Yacht ‘THUMPER’ makes a star appearance in the new Absolutely Fabulous The Movie, which hit worldwide movie screens on July 1st, 2016.
After Edina (Jennifer Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley) accidentally knock Kate Moss into the River Thames at a party, they need a quick get away – and where better to hide out than on a luxurious yacht in the South of France?!
Without giving away too many spoilers, the dynamic duo found themselves on the beautiful ‘THUMPER’ sipping champagne in the bay of Cannes.
The film crew and stars Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley spent a rough six hours on board ‘THUMPER’ filming the beautiful scenes seen in the movie. The ‘THUMPER’ crew thoroughly enjoyed the day of filming this highly anticipated movie – well who wouldn’t have?!
The Daily Telegraph reported on Jennifer Saunders commenting: ‘This is the life! This afternoon’s filming takes place on Thumper, a Sunseeker yacht so big that I can’t actually fit it on to the screen of my iPad to take a picture. Just getting her out of the harbour probably costs the production about £1,000 in petrol but, hey ho, whaddya gonna do?’ Obviously enjoying her time on board ‘THUMPER’ she then went on to say: ‘While Mandie and her crew go up in a helicopter to film us, Joanna, the marvellous Marcia Warren and I do some very hard work drinking champagne on the sun deck. So life ain’t so bad..’

The Line Producer of Absolutely Fabulous explained that they chose ‘THUMPER’ to shoot the finale of the movie as ‘she embraces cutting edge sophistication and desirability’ She described ‘THUMPER’ as ‘Elegant and modern, Thumper was our first choice to stage the scene showing that the worlds most iconic fashion team had finally made it. Quite simply – Absolutely Fabulous’
The now ‘movie star’ Sunseeker Yacht ‘THUMPER’ is currently up for sale. Boasting an amazing list of extras and a luxury bespoke interior, ‘THUMPER’ is one of the most bespoke 40M Sunseeker Yachts ever built. She received a nomination in the World Superyacht Awards 2015, where she achieved a top 5 finish in this incredibly competitive category.
